Juniors

juniors girls rowing in Seattle 09The ARA Junior team invites anyone from the ages of 12-18 to join an exciting group of young adults from all over the Anchorage and Eagle River area. We focus on building team-work, learning boat skills, and providing a healthy social activity for youth.  ARA begins recruiting juniors before school ends for our early season statewide competition that is held in late June. The junior coach starts the on-the-water season shortly after the end of the Anchorage School District year.  The cost for the early season is $100, and covers an introductory rowing session for novice (first year) juniors, two coached on-the-water rows per week up until  the statewide competition, as well as race fees and t-shirt for the race.

Here's a brochure with all the details or you can use online sign up for new members. Returning juniors log in to your member page, edit your profile and click the pay online button in the upper left corner to pay your dues online. Remember junior fees are all inclusive so you do not pay any monthly fees - just the membership fee. If you've paid too much or have questions talk to your coach or email the team manager.travelling_team in Seattle 09

To continue the summer, the second half of the Junior Season generally goes from July to September and costs $200. This includes two on-the-water rows per week leading up to an out-of-state regatta which is determined annually. (Cost of out-of-state trip not included in second session fees) Inclusion in lower 48 regatta is not mandatory for the late summer session, but is highly encouraged to give young rowers the experience of a big competition day and the see what programs are available for Collegiate Rowing.

Additional practices and cross-training activities are included through-out the season, but are subject to coaching availability and interest from Juniors.
