September dues need to be sent in by the 10th. If you are just planning to row a few times you can pay a $10 guest row fee.
2 ELECTIONS FOR BOARD VACANCIES
Elections for 3 soon to be vacated board seats will begin September 19th. A board term is 3 years and all current ARA members are eligible to run. If you are interested in running please speak to one of the current board members (Marcelle Riddle, Robby Bear, Emma Haddix, George Bryson, Scott Coon, Wendy Lyford, Walt Murphy, Natasha Graham, and Laura Chartier) and/or send a paragraph about yourself and why you would like to serve on the board to teammanager@anchoragerowing.com. If you would like to nominate a teammate, please contact any one of the current board members and we will make contact with the nominee. Election results will be announced at the Weigh Enough Ball. Thank you all for considering how you can be more involved in ARA!
3 SHELL PEN CLEAN OUT
Save the dates of October 1st (evening) and 2nd for loading boats and cleaning out the shell pen for the winter.
4 - WEIGH ENOUGH BALL
It's (almost) time to party! Save the evening of October 2nd for the Weigh Enough Ball to be held at the Clark/Hall home; details to follow.
5 PHOTOS FOR THE WEBSITE
If you have photos from practices or events this year that you would be willing to have on the website, please email them to photoeditor@anchoragerowing.com and include the photographer's name, a suggested caption and the names of any people in the photo if you have them.
6 STORAGE CONTAINER/UNIT DESIRED
ARA is considering the acquisition of a releasable shipping container (conex), enclosed equipment trailer, or similar enclosed storage unit. Do you have a unit that might work for us? Do you know of anyone that may? If acquired, the ARA will need to find a place to store/park the unit. Do you have space? Do you know of anyone that may? The approximate size of a storage unit may range from 8' wide x 20' - 45' long. Please contact Scott C. oscottcoon@hotmail.com or Robby Bear teammanager@anchoragerowing.com with any information. 9 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE TUESDAY NIGHT RUNNING RACES
ARA received this request and I am passing it along to you if you can help out, please contact Margaret or Christine phone numbers are at the bottom of their message.
** Imagine a family friendly / social trail running event with runs for all ages and abilities added in for fun, where attendance can vary from 700 to over 1100 and where the race course distances are not known until announced at the start. This is the popular Parks & Recreation running series that needs assistance helping as greeters, course marshals, course sweeps and assisting in parking lot / traffic sanity.
This trail running series held every Tuesday, September 7 November 2 starting at 6:30 at different park and school location is in it 43rd year. The tentative 2010 race schedule is:
